Monday, December 7 ~ From Ms. Corso

Good evening O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!

It has been a whirlwind of a month already and it is hard to believe that we have only two weeks until our next holiday break.  Our team has been working hard to provide our students with the best remote learning experience possible and keeping up with standards-based instruction and the relationships that we have established with students as well.  Thank you for your support in helping your children be prepared for their day…for helping them login and connect with their classroom as well as all the work that goes into monitoring their schedules and assignments.  We know that it is a lot…and we are very thankful for you.

Please remember that we are hosting our next drop off/pick up materials day this Friday, December 11th from 9:30 – 3:30.  You are welcome to drop off assignments outside the classroom door and pick up work for the remainder of this semester.  Please remember that we are not allowed to host in person conferencing during this time…so if you are interested in connecting with your child’s teacher…please connect with the to set up an online meeting.  We are here to help and connect…yet we just cannot do it in person at this time.

We are also encouraging students to check out books from our library so that they have some great books to read during the holidays.  Your child can reserve books online and they will be in their folder for pick up on Friday, December 11th.

On a “what are we doing in January” note…the district is planning on releasing the January reentry plan for schools within the week.  Their goal is to release our school community into the holiday season with a plan for how we will start back in January…this will give our teachers and our families time to plan and prepare for the second semester.  I know that this can be challenging for families…yet I have faith in our district to make smart and safe decisions for our school communities.  We will keep you in the loop as soon as we hear something.

As we enter into this very busy season…I have been very thoughtful about the phrase “chasing grace”.  It has helped me increase my level of compassion…patience…and impacted how I communicate with people along the way.  There are so many opportunities to offer grace and understanding these days…I seek them out as I am thankful for the opportunity to do some good these days.

Thank you as always for your love and support.   Even though we are far apart right now…we still feel very close to our O’Dea school community.

As always,

Laurie
