Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families! It feels so good to have big blue skies back and the sun on our faces this morning. Maybe Spring is really here this time? It has been another lovely week here with your children…we are really seeing the growth that we are typically looking for during this time of the school year…they are working hard…making great gains…and from the looks of it…having a whole lot of fun along the way as well.
Our fifth graders launched our CMAS assessments this week…well done fifth grade families for having your students here…and on time…healthy…and ready to go. Our third and fourth graders will be starting their window next week and they are ready for it!
We will be hosting our next and last PTA meeting of the school year on Monday, April 26th. Please join us if you can and meet our new PTA President Emily Birdsall and Vice President Aubrey Coleman. A giant thank you and hug goes out to Kristie Parker and Rene Noland whose terms are ending this year. We appreciate everything that you have brought to the Usness of US Kristie and Rene…we will always be grateful. I have received a few questions from families about what I believe our next school year will look like. Will students still be wearing masks? Playing in cohorts? There are questions about whether our restrictions for events and activities will be the same…and to be honest…we just do not know yet. It is my greatest hope that we are back to our traditional setting…with a deeper felt appreciation and gratitude for everything that we have missed this year…seeing the children smile…hugs…school events…and everything else that brings us together as a school community. I will work to keep you all in my loop as information is shared and will always be here if questions arise along the way. What I can tell you is this…overall…our students love being here…they feel cared for…safe…and seen. We see them. We see what goes on in their heads…and in their hearts…and we meet them there the best that we can. As challenging as this year has been…it has also created a level of grit…flexibility…and compassion in our students that we have not seen before…and we will fan that flame all day long .
Much love and support,
