Friday, May 14th family update ~ from Ms. Corso

Good afternoon O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  Well…it was officially the last full week of school this week…and to be honest…it feels a bit odd.  I feel like we just got started with the students…and now…we are sending them home to you for the summer.  On a silver lining note…I guess I am glad that we were able to host any in person learning this year…and I will be thankful for the time that we had.

As we wrap up the year…please check out the information from our Health office here:

Medication pickup- All medication must be picked up by 12:00 PM on Wednesday May 26th, 2021. This is the last day of school and it is a half day for students. You can pick up medications anytime at your convenience before the last day.

Medication Disposal- Our school nurse will follow state guidelines and dispose of all medications not picked up by 1:00 PM on the last day of school. Medications cannot be kept in the health office over the summer. Thank you for your understanding.

Medication for 2021- 2022- If medications are needed for 2021-2022 school year, you may obtain new forms from the PSD website.  Please fill out the appropriate Health Care Action Plan form along with the Authorization to Administer Medication Form. All forms must be signed by the students health care provider, legal guardian, and contain clear dosage and administration instructions.

Immunization Exemption for 2021-2022- If you choose not to have your student vaccinated according to the current recommended schedule because of personal beliefs or religious reasons, you  must submit a Certificate of Nonmedical Exemption to your school.  Nonmedical exemptions must be submitted annually at every new school year (July 1st through June 30th of the following year).

Two ways to file a nonmedical exemption:

  • File the Certificate of Nonmedical Exemption WITH a signature from an immunizing provider OR
  • File the Certificate of Nonmedical Exemption received upon the completion of our online education module available on the CDPHE website.

We have also lost quite a few library books between last year and now…almost $6,000 worth to be exact!  Please check your child’s library account (cheat sheet is attached here: How to Access Your Student Library Account.pdf ) to see if your child has a library book still checked out.  We have been accepting books back that are over 200 days overdue…yet it does not matter…we are happy to have them back!

Please recall that we do not have school on Monday, May 17th as it is Teacher Workday.  It is a day provided for teachers to prepare our final report cards for the school year.  Please know that report cards will be available on the last day of school along with your child’s class placement for next year.

Our End of Year BBQ and Field Day will be on Friday, May 21st…so please be sure that your child is wearing appropriate run around the field clothing for the day…thank you!

I hope you all have lovely weekends…we plan on fully enjoying the last days of school with your children.  They are full of great spirit and energy these days…yet that is just fine as we are full of big hearts and love.

Much love and support,

Laurie
