Family Update - Friday, September 24th

Happy last weekend in September O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  This week we hosted some powerful learning…the fall equinox…our EcO’Dea adventure for our fifth grade students…and our Feather Flurry Run preparations…it was a busy and fun filled week!

On Monday we will be hosting the Pep Rally for our Fun Run that is aimed to get the students excited and ready for our fundraising window to open.  This is our one and only fundraiser for our school community, so we are hoping that families are able to help support this initiative…help us spread the word…and contribute to our fundraiser.   It is a super fun time of year where we spend two weeks raising money for our school and then celebrate with a schoolwide Fun Run during the school day on Friday, October 8th.

We will be having incentives for our school as we reach each level of fundraising…they are fun and exciting incentives like schoolwide pajama days…Mr. Joyal on the roof for a day…administrators roller skating day…and the like.  There will be a few special “characters” in the building during this fundraising window…so be sure to ask your children about them on Monday!

We are also starting to host our fall parent teacher conferences so please be sure to connect with your child’s teacher and get yours on the calendar.  We always aim for one hundred percent parent contact during this time frame and are looking forward to connecting with you about your child’s progress at O’Dea.

Whew.

Overall…we are doing great.  We are teaching…laughing…building relationships with your children…and enjoying our work every single day.  It is crazy some days, this is true…yet we still love every minute of it.

Our school community has supported our efforts to keep our students in in person learning so our positive case number has been low…and we are so very thankful.  We are making decisions that keep our school safe…and open.  Please help us keep it up.  As we enter into a traditional “cold and flu season” it will be important for us to stay vigilant with symptom checking and keeping students home if they are ill.

If you have any questions about whether your child should attend school…please feel free to call our front office at 488.4450 and we will walk you through our health protocols and expectations.  We know the value that we hold in your lives and how important it is for the students to be with us each day. We want to continue in person learning…yet we cannot do this without your assistance.

As always…please reach out with questions…we are here to help the best that we can.

Much love and support…and happy weekending,

Laurie
