Happy beautiful Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families! It has been an odd week for us…chilly temperatures…snow days…late starts…it feels more like a Tuesday than it does a Friday. It has been interesting navigating the conversations surrounding the district lifting its mask mandate. I understand that there will be mixed emotions surrounding this decision and encourage families to read through the district communications to understand their line of thinking and next steps. We will still be asking that families keep students home who have symptoms and then provide guidance for families who have positive cases as they arise. The health and wellness of our school community is still a priority at O’Dea and our goal is to keep our students in school for in person learning…so we are going to do our best.
As we launch into February, we will be selling our Heart O’ Grams during lunch recess for students who are interested in sending a special treat to a friend or staff member at school. We will be selling them from February 8th – 11th ($1.00 each) and our fifth graders will be delivering them on Valentine’s Day. It is a fun way to share some love in the building and raise funds to support scholarships for our fifth graders adventuring to Eco Week next year.
Beyond that…February looks like an amazing month to cover some ground on standards…to prepare our students for their spring state assessment windows…and to share some love as we continue to build our school community. We hope that it finds you settling in and breathing a bit deeper as well. If we can make it through the yearlong January…February should be a breeze.
As always…please reach out with any questions or if you are in need of anything. We are here to help.
Much love and support,
