Friday, April 27th Family Update

Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families! We are wrapping up April and launching into May with our Teacher Appreciation Week next week! It is a super exciting last month of school…and it actually feels…pretty normal for a change.  The warmer weather always seems to bring about a burst of energy and excitement for summer…and we do try to temper that with consistency…learning and good communication with our families.  We are not counting down the days…we are continuing to nudge…grow…teach…and support student learning.  We appreciate your support as we navigate this exciting time of year.

I am attaching our May calendar here for you again as well. There are many fun events coming up…and we hope that you can join us for them.  May 2022 Family.pdf

We are super excited to have our first campus event since our COVID restrictions were lifted.  On Thursday, May 12th we will be hosting our Core Knowledge Fair and Silent Auction and our campus will be open to families once again.  Come join us to see the Core Knowledge projects across the grade levels…enjoy dinner from a local food truck…peruse our Scholastic Book Fair…and bid on a themed basket in our Silent Auction.  It will be a super fun family filled and family friendly event…so we hope that you can join us.  We are asking for families to register for dinner so that our food trucks are prepared…so please fill out the attached form and return it to school.  Core Knowledge Fair Flyer.pdf

I am also attaching our Specialists Update Block #9 Specials Newsletter.pdf  for families here:    Please be sure to check out what is going on in each of our specials classrooms for the remainder of the school year.

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week…and it is such a great opportunity to celebrate our team.  We have some fun surprises happening for them…and if you would like to send a note their way…they always love to get our parent thoughts as well.  If ever there was a group of people working hard to shape this world…it is our teachers.  They take our job of raising great humans very seriously…and work tirelessly to create an amazing environment for your children to land in every day.  I am proud to call them my people…and hope that you are too.

…and wrapping up…I am adding a quick note from our PTA here for families!

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Please remember to bring your items if you signed up to help with the teacher potluck on Monday, and please show up a little before the bell on Thursday or Friday morning so you and your student can craft something for your favorite teachers and staff at our Appreciation Station!

Our last PTA meeting of the school year will be May 9th at 6 pm virtually. We hope to see you there!

Thank you, and feel free to reach out with ideas, questions, and comments at Odeapta@gmail.com

I hope that everyone has restful and lovely time with their people...happy weekending!

With grit…grace…and everything good,

Laurie
