Family Update - Thursday, August 4th

Happy Thursday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  I hope that everyone is enjoying the final moments of summer as we gear up for the start of the school year.   We have been back in the building and super busy moving boxes…unpacking our spaces…tip toeing around construction workers…and getting very excited for the start of the school year.  Our new floors look outstanding…and really give the school a nice touch of newness…while still maintaining our sense of history as one of the district’s most historic sites.  It is a good balance.

For our incoming kindergarten families…we are looking forward to meeting you and your child for our quick dipstick assessment day next week (if you have not received an email and need to sign up for a slot still…please let us know) and then again at our Kindergarten Picnic next Friday, August 12th starting at 12:00.  It is always such an exciting time of year for our newest of students.

We will also be hosting a site wide Popsicle Party/Backpack and Supplies Drop off event for the rest of our school community on Monday, August 15th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.   This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher…see your child’s new classroom…reconnect with friends…and drop off school supplies ahead of time to make it an easier first day transition.    We hope you can make it.  (School supply lists are located on our O’Dea website at:  https://ode.psdschools.org/ )

Please let your children know that we cannot wait for them to come back.  Our school is not our school without their laughter…their love…and the amazing energy that they bring into our building.  I already have my joke Tuesday jokes queued up and ready to go to launch our first day back together.  It almost feels like Christmas as we count down the days.

As always…please reach out with any questions…we are here to help.

Happy final days of summering!

Much love and support,

Laurie
