Friday, October 7th Family Update

Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  Wow…what an amazing week that we have had.  We could not have asked for better weather for our Boosterthon Fun Run and our students had a blast getting outside with their friends and family and running laps for our school. We had a fundraising goal of $50,000 to support our site and a new playground structure and we exceeded that goal!  Thank you…thank you…thank you!

We know that there are still some donations coming in so our fundraising site will be open until Monday, October 10th.  After the dust settles, we will start our celebrations and connect with our top earners so that they can choose which teacher/leader they would like to be for the day.  It is always such an exciting time of year.  We will be hosting our schoolwide pajama/stuffie day and teachers in tutus and/or rollerskates day on Wednesday, October 12th.  Please add that fun to your calendar and be sure to check our website for Fun Run photos of the students…they are hilarious and so full of love and laughter.

I am also sending home a district update regarding inclement weather plans.  As we head into the fall/winter season, the district would like us to share the plan for remote learning if school is out.  I am attaching the letter here for your review.  Elementary Devices.docx

Noted in the parent letter is a day that students are to “practice” bringing their technology home and logging onto our site…and their Teacher Learning Page.  We will be sending home student technology on Monday, October 24th for practice and expect to have it back in the building on Tuesday, October 25th.  When you preview the letter, you will see a list of ideas for parents on the back side.  Please be sure to check it out. Thank you for your support!

On a super fun Halloween note…we will be hosting our annual Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31st starting at approximately 2:30.  We are hoping to host it outside in our backyard if weather permits.  If our weather does not cooperate…we will move it inside.  Parents are welcome to come watch the parade and we will send out more details as we get closer.

Whew.

My heart is full…my legs are tired…and I am entering into this weekend full of a great love and respect for our school community.  Thank you for all that you have done to make this week so fun and amazing for our students.  It is exhausting…yet in the end…it is always totally worth it.

Much love and support,

Laurie
