Family Update - Monday, November 7th

Good afternoon O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary Families…and happy Monday!  I apologize for not getting a communication out to families on Friday…I was at a training that was simply so amazing that it slipped my mind.  It is always good when a training is worth the time of being out of the building.  I hate to be out…yet staying current with strong instructional practices is very important as well.

Tomorrow morning is our Book Fair and Burritos event!  Please join us tomorrow morning from 8:00 am – 9:00 am for a free breakfast burrito and coffee and peruse the wonderful books at our Scholastic Book Fair.  It is set to be a beautiful morning and we will wheel our books out to our playground area and be set up to pass out burritos for families as well.   It is a great opportunity to connect with other families, buy some new books for the holiday season, and to get your day started with a good burrito.  If you cannot join us tomorrow morning…you are welcome to join us on Thursday morning for our Donuts and Book Fair event…it will be another opportunity for families, so we encourage you to try to make one…or come to both…the more…the merrier! Here is a link to the book fair so that you can see what books will be available: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/odeacoreknowledge1

We have also launched our November season of gratitude and giving and will be collecting food and resources for our families in need over the holiday season.  We hope that you are able to help us create a strong web for our community that helps catch our families in need and ensures that they have a safety net underneath them.  I am attaching the flyer here for you to preview as well. Food Drive Menu 2022 final.pdf

We have our next Family Dinner Night out tomorrow at Smashburger…and Smashburger will be donating 20% back to our school! What a great way to support our local community restaurants, support O’Dea, and to support family time together at Smashburger!  Please join us if you can! I am attaching the flyer here for you: SMASHBURGER_NIGHT OUT.pdf

The lovely cold and flu season is upon us as well.  Please be sure to keep your children home if they are experiencing symptoms that may be contagious to others.  Our goal is to keep our school community as healthy as possible, and we need your assistance to do this well.  If you have any questions about if your child should attend…please call our school health tech Sara Daveline at 970.488.4456. Thank you!

As we launch into November, we understand that the holidays can be a time of great celebration and a time of stress as well.  Please reach out if you need anything along the way…we are here to help.

Much love and happy Novembering,

Laurie
