Family Update - Friday, November 18th

Happy Fall Holiday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary Families!  Well…it officially feels like winter out there! There is nothing like the sound of snow boots and snow pants swishing through the hallways to get you in the mood for the winter season.  It is really quite meditative…“swish…swash…clunk…clunk…swish…swash…clunk…clunk”.   As we move into the colder weather, please remember that we do go outside for recess if it “feels like” above seventeen degrees. So please be sure to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor clothing so that they can enjoy their time outside.   If you need assistance with anything along the way…please reach out…we are here to help.

Thank you to everyone who was able to donate to support our “Purposefull Giving” drive for the holiday season.  It is so lovely to be able to provide assistance for our families over the holiday season.  I have always appreciated how well our school community…takes care of its community members. We have a very loving and supportive group of families and teachers. Thank you.

I am also attaching our December calendar December 2022 Family.pdf  here for you.  This year is moving quickly, and I hope that we all have a moment over this fall break to breathe deep and take stock the great things that we have going for us right now. We are in school together, we can see each other’s faces, we are enjoying new friendships and learning so much.  I am ever thankful for these things.

I am heading back to Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with my momma and although the weather may be grey…it is always fills me up to have the opportunity to be with her and my kidsEach year over the holiday season my children and I watch the classics from my generation and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is always a go-to favorite.  His famous line, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” is always a great nudge.  I hope that we all take time over the break to do just that.  Stop.  Look around. Appreciate.

Happy holiday seasoning!

Much love and support,

Laurie
