Friday, January 13th Family Update

Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  It has been another lovely week in the books and halls of O’Dea!  Our students are back in the saddle, working hard, building friendships, and having fun filled days at school.  January is always the time of year that our community really shines.  Our students return from the holidays excited…rested…ready to see their teachers…their friends…and to dig into their learning.

We have a few things on our calendars for next week that I want to be sure that you are aware of.   Schools will not be in session on Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King Day…so please enjoy the extra time with your people and be sure to ask your children what they have learned and discussed about Martin Luther King and his impact on our world.

We will also be hosting our staff and Girls Alumni Basketball Team game at 4:00 on Thursday, January 19th.  Our staff will be squaring off with some of our former students and showcasing our amazing basketball skill sets.  We are also hosting our next O’Dea Family Dinner Night Out at Crisp and Green that evening.  It will be a great way to wrap up the day.

It is also that time of year that we connect with our families about things that they love and areas of growth for our campus.  I am attaching a budget survey here for families to send in ideas and input.  I am embedding it in the email so that families may just hit respond and send ideas and I am also attaching it as a document for you to fill out and return.  Parent survey 2023.docx We truly love your feedback and look forward to reviewing it with our leadership team.

See information below:

We are interested in gathering our community’s thoughts for our budget planning team meeting on Wednesday, February 22nd  Your opinions matter to us.  We are sending out this form online to collect your thoughts and incorporate them into our planning the best that we can.

We would love your input to be in by January 27th as our Leadership team will be reviewing and compiling the information prior to our February meeting.  Please return via email…with your child’s Friday folder or to the front office.  Please use the back if needed!   Thank you!

Please check the grades your children are in:

What are the essential elements that make O’Dea a great school?

How can we best serve our community?

In what direction(s) would you like to see change/improvement at O’Dea?

Is there anything that you have seen work elsewhere that you would like to see at O’Dea?

Is there anything that you would like the PTA to focus on next year?

On a safe campus note…families please be sure to drive carefully and slowly around our school during dismissal and pick up.  It is a time of day that is simply full of children and little ones running around our campus. Please make a full complete stop at our stop signs…honor and respect our crossing guards and simply slow…your roll.  It is imperative for the safely of our school community.  Thank you for your support with this.

Families also received an email from our office manager, Tammy Cline, regarding an input survey for families for our next site administrator.  Please take a moment to fill it out and send your thoughts to our human resources department.  Thank you!

As always…thank you for sending us your lovely children each day.  Honestly, it is simply a joy to see them all and I look forward to it each morning when I wake.  I cannot imagine a better job than showing up for your children every day.  They are lucky…we are lucky…it is truly the best job ever.

Much love and support,

Laurie
