Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!

It has been another amazing and busy week with our students.  It honestly feels like we have been back together since August.  Our classrooms are just clicking along and the relationships that they developed during our remote learning time…are transferring right into in person learning.  It is always so heartwarming to see the teachers connecting the students at home…to the students at school through the virtual morning meeting.  This is  honestly my favorite time of the day…I was walking through a classroom this week and I heard a student at home yelling, “I looooove you” to their teacher before signing off…it just warmed my heart.  This is such an important part of their asynchronous day…please make sure that they can login to start their day with their classmates as much as possible.

Our amazing PTA has been working hard behind the scenes to come up with some ideas of how we can safely have some opportunities to come together…and to support O’Dea.  We have our first Family Dinner Out event at Torchy’s Tacos…the flier is attached here:  Torchy's Tacos flier.pdf  (A few details to note are…the flier can be paper or digital shown at time of order.  In-person orders for take-out or sit down with flier count towards fundraiser.  Pre orders can also be taken over the phone.  Online orders will not count towards the fund raiser.)  So if you are wanting to take a night off of cooking dinner…you can go to Torchy’s…grab some tacos for dinner…and have part of the proceeds donated to O’Dea.  A tasty…socially distanced event…that still supports our school community.  Winner…winner…tacos for dinner!

As we approach the holidays…we are launching our canned food drive next week.  If you are at the store and able to pick up an extra can of corn…beans…a box of stuffing and have your child to bring it to school…that would be amazing.  Our flier is attached here:   Food Drive Flyer.docx

We would love to be able to provide meals for our families over the holiday season. Thank you…we are grateful for your support.  If you are interested in making a direct donation to support our site and our community building efforts we have a secure link here for you to be able to do just thathttps://www.schoolpay.com/link/ODeaEveryKidDonations

Thank you as always for your love and support…the positive emails…the smiles from our families…and the overall sense of peace that is in our building during these changing times…it does my heart good.

Much love and support,

Laurie
