Friday, December 11 Update ~ From Ms. Corso

Happy snowy weekend O’Dea Core Knowledge families!

I hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful Colorado snow today.  It is always such a fun sight to see in the morning.

Thank you to all the families that braved the weather to come and pick up materials for their children.  If you missed today…please reach out to your child’s teacher and plan another day to swing by the school when you can.

We have also been busy working on grading and getting our report cards ready for families.  They will be available to view in the Parent Vue portal on January 11th.  Our report cards have evolved a bit and we are now using a Standards Based grading system to show student progress.  I am attaching an explanation of what that means here Standards Based Reporting letter.docx   for you to review.

The district is also planning on announcing our January reentry plans early next week.  Many of you have already heard that there will be a short remote launch with the goal of getting students back into buildings shortly thereafter.  They are still working on the details of that reentry so please hang tight…and we will share out as soon as we can.

As we prepare to launch into this holiday season…I hope that the love and positive energy that the holidays tend to bring…lingers around a bit longer this year.  I hope that we can keep that love and hope alive for a few extra weeks as we come back together for second semester.

As I noted with the staff this week…I have had a certain sense of peace around me this week. Even though I have struggled with figuring out how to lead through such uncertain times…I have found peace in a simple thought…that consistency of character…is more important than consistency of a plan.  So that…is my new mantra…consistency of character…is more important than a consistency of a plan.  The character and values of our school are meaningful and focused on raising great humans…and even though plans may change…our character will always remain true.

As always, thank you always for your ongoing support and love…it has been an interesting ride for all of us…yet our true spirit always shines through…when that is where we focus.

Much love and support,

Laurie
