Friday Family Updates ~ February 19 from Ms. Corso

Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge families!  It has been another busy week in our building and our students are doing amazing.  I am also super proud of my teaching team as we work to navigate our evolving protocols and work to keep our building open to in person learning.  We are teaching with clarity…taking care of our students…building relationships and class communities…and getting our groove back…even while we wear masks…get vaccinations…stay socially distanced…use barriers…spray everything down all day long…and fall asleep within minutes every night…we are hanging in there…doing great and I am proud to be one of us.

A big thank you goes out to our parent community as well.  You are helping us keep our school community safe by sending your children with masks…keeping them home when they are sick…moving quickly and safely through our drive through lines…and supporting our teachers with your positive energy as well.  We appreciate you very much.

Our teacher collaboration day on Monday, February 15th was spent doing some socially distant professional development in the morning and working on scoring writing assessments and calibrating across the grade levels in the afternoon.  It was time well spent honing our practice…digging into our data and growing together as a team.

We are hosting our Read Across America Spirit week the first week in March.  I am attaching the flyer here for you so your children can participate in the fun spirit days that we are hosting.Spirit Week flyer 2021 Read Across America Week.docx

Our PTA is meeting next week, and we encourage you to join our virtual session together.  It is always a great time to see our parents…share some thoughts and work on making our school even more amazing.  The link for the meeting is included here – PTA meeting link please feel free to join us.  We are also encouraging families to connect their King Soopers shopping cards to help King Soopers donate to our school.  The information page is included here King Soopers.docx for your review as well.   We also have our PTA newsletter attached here:  February PTA newsletter.docx

Whew.

As always…thank you for everything that you do to help make our school community great.  We take our partnership with families very seriously as growing great humans…is serious business.   Thank you for everything that you are doing to assist us along the way.

Much love and support,

Laurie
