Friday, April 30th family update ~ from Ms. Corso

Good afternoon O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  It is SUCH a beautiful day today…you can see the joy on the children’s faces…and you can hear it in their laughter and playing outside…Spring is close!  It is hard to believe that we have less than twenty days left with your children…it seems like they just got here…whew.

As we enter into the last month of the school year…we are busy planning the end of year events that we can plan.  We have our Field Day and BBQ on Friday, May 21st, and our 5th grade graduation ceremony on our last day of school.  Both will look a bit different…yet I am just thankful that we can still host them!

We also had a parent ask about our communication regarding our lockout last month which I wanted to clarify.  We are given specific directions from the Fort Collins Police Department and Poudre School District Security Team on what we can communicate to families.  Each situation will be unique, and our primary focus is to work quickly and immediately to ensure that all of our students are safe.  As soon as danger has passed, we ensure accurate information about the situation is shared with parents. It is always a tricky time.  I want you to know that I will communicate with you via phone and email as soon as I possibly can…with as much information that I can.  I know that you want and need that.  I also want you to know that I will do that as soon as I am sure that all of our children are safe…and that is my top priority…safety…then clear and direct communication.  As always, please reach out with any questions.

Our Garden Club is looking for some support with spreading some new mulch on our campus.  If you are free next Friday…please join us in our campus beautification efforts!  Please see their note below:

Garden Club Mulch Spreading Party on Friday, May 7th from 4pm - 5:30pm. Please come by whenever works best for you.

We need volunteers to help spread additional mulch in the nature playground along with the new native plant bed going in the front of the school. Please plan to bring gloves and a tarp, shovel, or rake to help out if you have them. We would love to see you and help beautify the outdoor spaces!

Thank you as always for sending us your lovely children.  They have simply been great this week.  They always make me laugh…tell me how funny our joke Tuesday jokes are…let me draw chalk hearts all over our playground with them and make me want to come to work every day.  I cannot imagine a better job for me…it suits me just perfect.

I hope you all have lovely weekends!

Much love and support,
