O'Dea Core Knowledge Summer Reading Thoughts - Summer Reading Programs Galore!

There are several summer reading programs students can participate in to earn books, prizes and best of all... a ticket to the Summer Reading Party right here at O'Dea!!

O'Dea is hosting our summer reading challenge. It is optional but strongly recommended. We challenge each student to read a minimum of 15 minutes per day, 5 days per week, for 10 weeks this summer. Encourage your child to read outside…bring a book camping…set up a tent in the backyard and read there…create a family readathon…create a neighborhood book group…get creative and have some fun while you unplug your child from the computer…and dive into a great story together. For each day you read at least 15 minutes, you can color in a scoop of ice cream. If you read 50 days this summer AND return the READING LOG .pdf before August 20, you can earn a ticket to the summer reading party extravaganza! We will host this fun celebration to honor summer readers on Friday August 27. Keep track all summer long and return the reading log to your teacher the first week back to school! Happy reading!

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading 2021

Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read a designated number of books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.
