Friday, October 1st Family Update

Good afternoon O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families and happy first day of October!  It has been a perfect fall day at school…the leaves are dropping…the sweatshirts are out…and our building is cooling off for the season.

Thank you for all of your support for our Feather Furry Fun Run fundraiser…it has been tremendous!  We are halfway through our fundraising timeline and are at our halfway point already…please keep it up!  Our students are earning prizes and fun events as we go along…and you may have heard about our local celebrities “Jackie the Jazzercize Queen Janckowitzchowski” and “Dwayne the Dodgeball King Dukowachikowski”.  They have been making a few spotlight appearances as we build the momentum and energy for our Fun Run.   Dwayne is hiding all the trophies that Jackie has won for her Jazzercise competitions…and the students have had fun finding them throughout the building.

Parents are welcome to attend their child’s Fun Run session as it is outside. We are still encouraging social distancing yet since we are outside…we are not requiring masks for those who attend.  The time frame for the Fun Run sessions is here:

  • 9:15 – 10:15 = 2nd and 3rd
  • 10:15 – 11:15 = K/1
  • 11:15 – 12:15 = 4/5

I am attaching our October calendar for families here for you so that you are in the loop of our upcoming events as well…fall is always a very festive season.  October 2021 family.pub

On a Poudre School District note…the district is hiring substitute teachers this fall and we want to encourage our school community to apply if you are interested It is a super fun job supporting our teams when we have teachers out…and you get the experience working with the amazing students in our district.  You can pick the days to work that you are free…and be on the same schedule as your children…winner…winner!  If you are interested…check out the PSD website for more information.

Today many of our team members are wearing the t shirts that we had made for Teacher Appreciation Week last year.  They read, “Keep Doing What You Love”…and we are doing just that…what we love.  There are some days that are not easy…and there are some days that are just perfect…either way…we show up to teach and take care of your child…because it is what we love…no matter whats.

Please reach out with any questions or if you need anything…we are here to help.

Warmly,

Laurie
