Friday, August 26th Family Update

Happy first full week of school O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families!  Our students are back in their saddles…building new skill sets…making new friends…and jumping right into our grade level content already.  I can honestly say that this has been one of the smoothest transitions back to the school year in memory.  Thank you for everything you have done to make this so…it is appreciated.

Thank you to all the fifth-grade families who joined us last night for our Eco Week Back to School Night.  It was an information filled evening that helps keep everyone in the loop as we prepare to take our students adventuring to the CSU Mountain Campus in September.  The remaining grade levels (K – 4) will be hosting their Back to School Night next week on Thursday, September 1st.  We will host two options for families with our first session running from 4:45 – 5:15 and the second session running from 5:30 – 6:00.   Please plan on joining a session and learning more about your child’s teacher…classroom…and our focus points for the year at O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary.

It is hard to believe that September is already upon us…yet here we are!  I am attaching the September calendar here so that you can stay in the loop of all of our upcoming events next month.  September 2022 Family.pdf

Our Specialist team has also been busy and here is the latest update for what your child will be learning in our “specials” classes (Art…Music…Technology…Counseling…P.E.)…please be sure to check it out.  specialsnewsletterblock#1.pdf

We also have a welcome letter from our amazing PTA…and hope that you are able to jump into this amazing group of parents who are helping make O’Dea the lovely school that it is.  I am attaching the letter here for you.  2022 Welcome letter.pdf

Whew.

First full week in the books.  I have heard some amazing jokes for Joke Tuesday…had Friday morning music suggestions sent in from former students…learned that the fashion accessory for the season is a pair of purple gloves…and watched a student dance his way into the building for the start of the school day.  I have seen our teachers here early each morning…and late each night working to create some magic each day and I am thankful to be a part of all of this.  It is truly the gift…that keeps on giving.

I hope you all have magical weekends!

Much love and support,

Laurie
