Happy Friday O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary! The day appears to be ending…better than it started. The winds woke up my entire home this morning with its whistling and whipping through the west side of town. It has turned out to be a beautiful big blue-sky kind of day…which was perfect for the fire drill that we hosted as well. Per PSD guidelines…we are to host one fire drill each month and then stagger our other drills throughout the year. I am thankful that we are picking days that have lovely weather for us!
I hope that everyone enjoyed the Fall Break with their families and their people. It will be a quick turnaround between now and our next holiday break with only two and a half weeks of school between the two. We are still working very hard towards our midyear goals so please ensure that your child is here and on time each day. We do understand that it is also cold and flu season, and our families are doing an amazing job keeping their children home until they are healthy enough to return to school. It is such a careful balance.
We are also supporting our school community with the O’Dea Giving Tree program. We have connected with a few of our families with special circumstances who are in need of holiday support. We have worked with them to create a list of items to purchase to place in their homes/under the tree for the holidays. If you purchase an item, it will be sent directly to O’Dea where we will wrap it and have it ready for families before the holidays. We have asked for these families to list things that the family needs…so you may see things for adults as well. Our goal…is to ensure that everyone gets a holiday season this year. Our students…and their parents as well. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased items…I love how our school community…takes care of our school community.

Please also recall that we are hosting our 2022 O’Dea Talent Show on Wednesday, December 21st in the morning. We will be hosting tryouts after school on Monday, December 5th, Tuesday, December 6th and Thursday, December 8th. There will NOT be tryouts on Wednesday, December 7th as we have a staff meeting. It is always such a fun and festive way to wrap up 2022! Parents are welcome to come and watch the performance!
