Friday, January 20th Family Update

Dear O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary families…happy Friday and last family update for the month of January!  It always feels like such a long month…yet there is so much learning and connecting to be done…that we are glad for the time with your children.   This is the time of year that our students really begin popping and showing their learning and growth.  It is super exciting!

As we are entering into a new month…I am attaching the February family calendar here for you to stay in the loop of all the exciting things happening this month. February 2023 Family.pdf  We are also hosting our first ever Yearbook Cover Contest for students to create/design the yearbook that we will have for sale later this spring.  Forms went home in Friday folders last week…so be sure to check in with your child to see if they are interested in creating one.

Our specialists have been very busy with your children as well.  Our students have been creating some very unique art projects…digging into technology…learning new games and skills in P.E…reflecting on our Purposefull People curriculum in counseling, and singing right along during music.  Our specials provide such a unique and different insight into how our children thrive…learn…and grow.  I am thankful that we have such an amazing team of specialist teachers and that we prioritize this part of a child’s educational experience.  Please see the attached Specialist Update to stay in the loop of what our team will be working on.  specialsnewsletter#6.pdf

Our Lost and Found Department at our school is slowly dwindling…yet we still have a surprisingly large number of coats…hats…boots…snowpants…lunchboxes…socks and pretty much everything that you could think of!  If you are missing something…please let your child’s teacher know…or encourage them to look for it in the Lost and Found.  We also encourage families to write their child’s name on their items as we do try to find the homes of these lost items each week.

As we enter into the month of February next week…we know that is a short month…yet it is one that is filled with love.  We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day…and also be bringing the love and care that we have for each other to the surface more so than ever.   It is very important to us that our children know that relationships matter...that we love and care about them…and that we are here to teach them…and to help them grow into the amazing humans that they dream of being.  Every day is not a perfect one…yet it starts with love…and it ends with love…and that is what is most important.

I hope that everyone has a lovely weekend with their people.  As always...please reach out with any questions...we are here to help.

Much love and support,

Laurie
