Friday, February 3rd Family Update

Happy February O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary Families!  It feels great to launch our month of love with some big blue skies and warmer temperatures.  It is lovely to be able to send the kiddos outside again as the temperatures warm up…and the sunshine always adds some beauty to our days.  As always…please be sure to send your child to school in appropriate weather gear/clothes as we do go outside if it “feels like” at or above seventeen degrees.

We have noticed a bit of an uptick in students bringing technology to school after the holidays and wanted to bring it to your attention. Students are welcome to bring their phones and smart watches to school, yet they are not to be used during the school day. Please remind your student of these expectations as well.

As always…if you have any questions about this policy…please reach out…we are here to help!

Please also be sure to note that we are hosting our February PTA meeting next Monday, February 13th at 6:00.  This will be a great opportunity for families to add any last-minute feedback to our budget planning process for the 2023 – 2024 school year.  These meetings are held virtually so you can join from the comforts of your own home.  Please consider joining us…I am including the link for families here:

On school attendance note…starting Monday, our office team will be using the School Messaging system for attendance calls.  If we have not received an attendance call or had it noted in ParentVue…families will receive a robocall noting the unexcused absence. These calls will go out between 9:30 – 10:00.  Our attendance line number is: 970.488.4451.

We have changed our front bulletin board into a giant heart for the month of February.  We are decorating it with pink twinkle lights…hearts…and most importantly…a photo of each and every child in our building.  It is important that they see themselves as part of the love…that they draw on it…and that they contribute to it every single day.  Each day we focus on ensuring that each student knows that they are loved…and that they belong here at O’Dea Core Knowledge.  One of my favorite sayings is, “Love always wins”…I believe this in my heart of hearts and hope our students do as well.

I hope that everyone enjoys their weekends with your people.  The weather looks like big blue skies and wintery beautiful.  I keep telling myself that the snow will not be around forever…so I am going to carve out some time in it this weekend!

Much love and support,

Laurie
