I am the youngest of 4 children and I am the only girl! All of my family still lives in Chicago, but I live in Fort Collins with my own fur child Ranger. Ranger is my 1 year old black lab!
Growing up in Chicago I had access to so many different universities, but I decided to travel a little bit and headed west to Des Moines, Iowa.I went to Drake University (Go Bulldogs!) and majored in Elementary Education with minors in Special Education and Reading. My dream is to go back to school and receive my masters in the field of special education!
I grew up in North Riverside, Illinois, which is about 10 miles outside the city of Chicago. My dream growing up was to move to northern Colorado, I like to call Fort Collins my new hometown! :)
I love Crossfit, I think it is very challenging but so much fun! I love hiking and being outdoors but I also love watching movies and playing my violin!
Rita Pierson has a famous quote that I truly love and completely believe in!
"Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be."
This quote is posted on the door to our classroom as a reminder to not only the educators that walk through that door but to the students as well!
One of my favorite classes in college was Children's Literature! We read so many fun and interesting books and we also re-read books that I had read in years past. From that class I discovered that I didn't necessarily understand the true meaning of some stories or that I wasn't able to dive completely into those books. One of those books was Lois Lowry's, The Giver. That book will forever be one of my favorites. My favorite picture book story (or one of them, there are too many to choose from) is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo.
Being from Chicago I am a little biased when it comes to one sport and one sport only....Hockey! Go Blackhawks!!!!
Other than that I root for the Broncos for football and other sports I guess I still like Chicago :)!
I am going to be one of our lovely schools Multi-Cat teachers!
My classroom is number 121!
I want all of the students who will enter this classroom to know that it is OUR classroom. We get to learn, grow, and discover in OUR classroom! We will have tough times and amazingly awesome times and we will go through them together! WE are going to become wondrous writers, magnificent mathematicians, renowned readers and best of all..... we are all going to become friends and life-long learners!
