My husband Steve works as a computer tech at Poudre High School where my daughter Amber is a senior in the IB diploma program. My son Robin is a Poudre High School IB diploma program graduate 2012 and and attends Western State Colorado University as a member of the track team majoring in Art/Graphic Design. My parents Carolyn and Winfield Bassage moved here to Laporte from New Hampshire 2 years ago. They are both retired educators and volunteer on occasion in the classroom.
I have a BS in Developmental Education form Ohio State University. I am endorsed in three special education areas as well as in elementary education. This is my 11th year at O'Dea! I taught in the autism program for 6 years, 1 year as a paraprofessional and 5 yrs as a classroom teacher. This will be my 5th year as a first grade teacher.
I was born in Exeter, New Hampshire and I grew up in Chagrin Falls,Ohio. I lived in Columbus Ohio for many years before moving to Fort Collins in 1993.
I love to garden,hike and do anything out of doors.I enjoy spending time with family and loving my critters, a dog and 2 cats. I also run off and on and participate in the occasional 5K.

I have a new classroom space this year and am looking forward to settling in. My classroom is very student focused. They all have a job each week, they learn how to write the menu on the board, read the learning target and prep the classroom for the next day. They are part of decision making as much as is possible.
