I am so lucky to have such a supportive family that has helped me reach where I am today! My parents are Colorado transplants after they moved from California in search of a beautiful place to raise a family. Today, my family lives throughout Colorado, with my older brother living in Durango, my younger brother who lives in Denver, and my parents that live in Colorado Springs. I also have so many wonderful friends in my life that are incredibly important to me.
I graduated with my B.S. in Early Childhood Education at Colorado State University this past spring as well as receiving my teaching licensure in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I am so excited to be starting my journey in the field of education with my first year of teaching here at O'Dea!
I am originally from the Colorado Springs area and, as a Colorado native, I have always loved spending time in the beautiful mountains in our backyard! Growing up, I played competitive soccer, took dance classes, participated in choir and musicals, and spent as much time as I could outside!
I love just about anything I can do outside! I love camping, hiking, skiing, and backpacking. I've climbed 11 of Colorado's "14-ers" (mountains with elevations above 14,000 feet) and am hoping to summit more in the future. I also love running and am currently training for my second half marathon! Spending time with friends and family, watching movies, reading, and learning are more of my favorite things.
“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” -John Dewey
Some of my favorite books as a child were the Pippi Longstocking stories by Astrid Lindgren. She taught me the importance of being unique, learning, exploring, making mistakes, and always being yourself! I also love the Magic Tree House books and the Harry Potter series.
As a CSU Ram alum, I've gotta give them a shout out! I'll always cheer for them, especially when football season rolls around!
I have been working on building a classroom environment where every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn. I view every child as capable, unique, and important individuals, and I strive to celebrate that individuality! My students and I will work together to create a class promise in order to outline our expectations for ourselves and for the year. We will learn, be creative, make choices, take risks, make mistakes, grow, listen, laugh, and work together as a classroom family. I can't wait!
