O’Dea Owls,

We had a wonderful week at O'Dea - special thanks to PTA for Treat the Teachers on 4/17!  Shout out to all of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students that rocked CMAS testing these past few weeks!  Next week we launch into our Kindergarten ABC Countdown!  We invite ALL students (K-5) to join in and celebrate kindergarten learning!  Each day in April and May we will dress in fun ways and have special activities!  For next week, we will have…4/23 Z – Zig Zag day – we do lots of lines in kinder and zigzags are some of our faves… So wear zigzag clothing or create zigzag art, 4/24  Y – yellow day – wear yellow!, 4/25  X – eXtra Recess – We have fun with this one and go outside frequently!, and 4/26  W – Wacky Day – flip your schedule, dress wacky, switch teachers for a lesson!

It is the time of year where we see a spike in challenging behavior from some students as they eagerly anticipate the end of the year and summer vacation. Rules and expectations at school may start to be forgotten. It's important to acknowledge that teachers are juggling many responsibilities during this time as well such as testing, report cards, field trips, and end-of-year celebrations. In light of this, I want to highlight the importance of coming together to encourage and reinforce positive behavior in our students. Our teachers will be going over classroom and school-wide expectations with their students, and it is important to have the support from parents and guardians at home as well. 

Your continued support in promoting a positive and respectful learning environment is truly appreciated. By working together, we can ensure a smooth and successful end to the school year for all our students and teachers!
