We have been working on O’Dea’s system to support teaching behavior.  O’Dea has a robust positive reinforcement system with Owl Slips and Flight Rules for clear expectations.  Sometimes, students require a teaching moment with behavior, and we wanted to share how we approach this at school.  We label all school behavior as positive or negative, with positive and negative consequences.  When students make a negative choice, teachers will use this process to support learning prosocial behavior skills.  This process is intended to teach behavior and emphasizes learning and restorative practices.  The form helps the student think about their choices and what else they could have chosen to do, how to fix it/apologize, and most importantly, what they can do next time.  Some parents have found this valuable process at home, so we want to share it with all parents.  Here is a link to a training video (fictional with acting) to help you see and learn the process.
