Weekly Family Update January 30

Lots of fun at O’Dea this week :). Today we celebrated our 100th school day of the year! This is always a big milestone and celebration for O’Dea’s Kindergarteners, and we had fun events all day! Our 4th Graders also had the chance to see CSU Women's Basketball on Wednesday. Next week, our 2nd Graders conclude their Core Knowledge Insect Unit by going to the Butterfly Pavilion. These learning experiences are supported directly by you and the PTA with your donations to the school Boosterthon!

As we launch into the new year, we are starting to plan for the 2026-27 school year! In February, we begin reflecting, discussing, and planning how to design O’Dea for the upcoming year. We would love to capture your voice to help us to continue to improve. We are inviting all families to complete a short survey to gather parent input on how we are doing as a school, how we can improve, and capture parent voice in our budget and staffing plan for the 2026-27 school year. The Healthy Kids 5210+ Challenge starts this Monday! Each February, we encourage our whole community (students, staff, and families) to learn and practice the 5210+ healthy habits. The goal is to get 5 fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity, 0 sugary drink,s and 9 or more hours of sleep. Every Day!

Research shows that practicing 5210+ daily for one month helps to create and maintain lifelong healthy habits. The yellow calendar log is for students to check boxes every day and the blue sheet is for family bingo, so everyone can get on board with healthy habits! We have switched back to in-person PTA meetings, and all are welcome to join! PTA wants to focus on increasing family engagement in the upcoming year, and we would love to have your voice and input. Our next meeting will be on 2/10, and we would love to see new parents who want to jump in and support O’Dea (see additional PTA news in the PTA Newsletter)!

Treat the Teachers! Valentine’s Charcuterie Addition! We’re hosting Treat the Teachers - charcuterie celebration to shower our wonderful teachers with LOVE (and cheese!) Donations can be sent to school by Wednesday, February 4th at 10 am. Thank you for helping us make this a deliciously special way to say thank you to those who do so much for our kids every day! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0D49ABAA2FA5FB6-61791895-treat
